If you own an online business then you will know the safety of your website is of highest importance. You want your users to believe that your uk web hosting is safe and they are confident their connection to your site is safe also. In this case an SSL Certificate is advantageous as it enables encryption of private data that is communicated between your site and the client that is using it. An SSL Certificate generates a secure stream which encrypts the data throughout sending, and as these certificates are issued by trusted sources your clients will be confident that the padlock icon means their information will be secure.

A requirement for setting up an SSL Certificate on your domain is that your domain is hosted on a dedicated IP address, if you have a reseller hosting account with NetHosted then you would have one or more IP’s included. These can also be added to shared hosting accounts and additional dedicated IP’s can be added to reseller hosting accounts too, these can be purchased through the Order Account Addons area in your client area. You order the SSL Certificate at the same time as the IP, or individually again via the Order Account Addons section.

Once you have ordered the certificate you will need to submit some data to us via a support email, this information is needed to create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). The CSR is required to install an SSL Certificate and the information that is needed is as follows:

Email Address:
Address (www.domain.com):
First line of postal address:
Country letters (GB?):
State:
City:
Post Code:

Company Division:
Password:

Once this information has been received and payment sent the SSL Certificate can be set up on your web hosting account for you and your domain will be secured, displaying the padlock icon to customers which assures them that your website is genuine and credible.
